So much for some of its moreobvious features. How do I like it? I like it. I like it. The print quality isquite good (see sample) and the ribbonis long-lasting. I used the same ribbonto print hundreds of pages of copy., much more than I could ever get out ofa cloth ribbon on a typewriter.Although I've seen the ribbons advertised advertised for as much as $9.00, I've not paidmore than $4.95 for one and have nothad any problem locating them. IncidentallyIncidentally, loading and unloading the ribbon ribbon is a snap. The Prowriter uses a Centronics-type ribbon cable to link it to the computercomputer's RS232 port. When I purchasedit, the dealer had to have the cable fabricated fabricated as a custom job. It cost about$25 for a five-footer, which is aboutwhat most such cables cost for anyprinter. DIP switches are convenientlylocated and easy to reach. The on-offswitch is on the side of the machine.There are three buttons on the front ofthe machine: one for top of form feed(which advances the paper to the nextpage) and a line feed, which allows youto advance the paper one line at a timeas long as you hold the switch down.The third button simply activates theother two. There arc are also lights on the frontpanel to indicate that the power is on,that the selection switch has beenactivated and whether paper has beenloaded. The print head will not operateif there is no paper to print on. A leveron the top of the printer allows the userto choose either friction feed, forsingle-sheet pc1per. or pin feed for perforated perforated paper. Paper can also be advancedmanually.
