B-1 Nuclear Bomber is the first computer game translated into TI BASIC by the Avalon Hill Game Company. Microcomputer Games is the company's computer games division.
The game is a text-only simulationprogrammed in BASIC. I wasfascinated by the challenge of fryingto penetrate a web of Soviet defensesto drop a thermonuclear weapon on amajor population center. All moralconsiderations aside-this is a game,after all-things seem to happen sofast I didn't notice that it wasn't writtenin Extended BASIC. Incidentally,it runs perfectly well in ExtendedBASIC. ===Performance: ===There are no preliminariesin this game. The first thingyou see is a message indicating thatwar has begun and you are to fly yourB-1 Bomber from Thule AFB to atarget in the Soviet Union. You aretold what your primary target is andthen given a "fail-safe" code to armyour one megaton nuclear warhead.
