TI spokesmen in Lubbock, Texas and elsewhere say that TI will continue to provide support for the home computer "on an indefinite basis."
According to Jon Campbell, managerof press relations for TlTI's conmmer consumer group, this open-ended servicepolicy extends not only to theconsole but to all TI peripherals,cards and software.
Citing Tl's service policies regardingother discontinued items, includingwatches and calculators, Campbellsaid, "we'll continue to maintainour repair facilities for out-ofwarrantyof-warranty repairs." He noted thatusers in need of service may continueto send the units to the Lubbockrepair facility as has been done in thepast. Repairs to out-of-warrantyitems will be billed to the user. Conso-les Consoles come with a one year warrantywhile other hardware and softwareitems come with a 90-day warranty.There is no charge for repairs madeduring the warranty period. Campbell says the company continuesto service and repair calculatorsthat are 10 years old. AlthoughTI stopped producing watches threeyears ago, he notes, service is stillprovided for them. As of mid-December, he said, TIwas still producing consoles to meetcontractual obligations. TI stoppedtaking new orders on the consoleswhen it announced that it was leavingthe home computer business. As of December, however, Campbellsays, "we haven't ceased manu
