Bewary of the transporter beamsince it spells instant death foryour Needlefighter. The F raxullanFraxullan mother ship moves relentlessly,drawing up the helpless nativesand fiendishly carrying them toDragonmaw, the sulferous sulfurous volcanoof death. The volcano is due toerupt at any time, but be careful ofthe explosions that occuroccasionally during the game.You must evacuate all 18 peoplefrom the City of New Hope beforeit is too late, and then on to thesafety of the Verdann Fortress. Youare the sole PROTECTOR! The Verdann Fortress is locatedbelow the horizontal red bar pastthe vertical laser defense networksthat are robot controlled, the LaserFields of the Straak. The laserinstallations are stationary whileother installations are mobile andtrack your Needlefighter. Thearmaments for the VerdannFortressVerdann Fortress are carefully cloaked ininvisibility shields until after theeruption of Dragonmaw. At thistime the red energy shields aredropped and the Verdann Fortressand it's its armaments become available.In order for the survivorsfrom the City of New Hope toreach safetYsafety, they must be placedin the escape chute located belowthe walls of the Fortress. You mustsave these innocent victims fromtheir gruesome destiny. You launch your OmicromNeedlefighter from your basedeep inside the Xlarr defense postRefuel your Needlefighter by docking at the refueling pod from where your Needlefighter was originally launched. The alignment of the fighter pod is critical. If it is not exact, you may crash. In order to transport people from one city to another, you must "hook" each person, one at a time, by passing immediately above the person that you wish to lift. You will know when they are hooked as they will stop waving their arms. After hooking them you must ascend and the person will cling to the bottom of your Needlefighter. In order to "drop" a person you merely fly over the area where you wish to deposit the person (making sure that they touch the disembarking area) and he/ she will pop off.  All of the people must first bebrought to the City of New Hopebefore the barrier to the VerdannFortress will be opened. It ispossible (in some of the easierlevels) to catch people before theysink into the mouth of Dragonmaw.This maneuver requiresgreat skill and timing. Also theunpredictability of the volcaniceruptions makes this a very riskyprocedure. The aliens and fate conspireagainst you at every turn. TheF raxullan mother ship launchesXytonic PULSE-TRACKERS to·destroy you. These fiendishtrackers pursue you across theskies. They are persistent and willdestroy your passengers (and/ orthe Needlefighter) if they makecontact with them. Be wary of theCHOMPERS, an indigenous lifeform. They are powerful andunpredictable. In fact, they eatNeedlefighters for breakfast! Also,there are rocket bases all over thesurface of the planet. Theserockets fire in many directions.You may destroy rocketinstallations by hitting them withlaser cannon fire when they turnred.PainstakinglY, after every man,woman and child have been flownpast Dragonmaw and placed inthe City of New Hope, the volcanowill erupt, starting a lava flow thatinevitably destroys the City ofNew Hope. It is here that you findout if you passed the ultimate test.Your mouth is dry, and the sweattrickles down your face, as youstrain against the impossibleodds. There is no time to think,only to do!
